Our story
HAYDENSWAN Eyecare was founded with a simple belief: eyecare should feel personal, thoughtful and tailored to the individual.
After qualifying as an Optician in 1992, founder Claire Hayden spent more than three decades building an extraordinary career within the optical industry. From working with leading global brands and manufacturing businesses to training, media and digital innovation, her journey has taken her across the UK and the Middle East, always with a passion for improving the patient experience.
Returning to independent practice in the South East, Claire recognised an opportunity to do things differently. While many optical businesses focused on convenience and price, she wanted to create a practice centred around service, advice and genuine relationships. Combining innovative technology with a calm, welcoming environment, HAYDENSWAN Eyecare was born - a boutique independent practice where patients are given the time, attention and expertise they deserve.
Today, HAYDENSWAN brings together over 30 years of optical experience, advanced clinical care, carefully curated eyewear collections and a modern approach to consultation, helping patients enjoy exceptional eyecare both in practice and online.

Meet The Family
HAYDENSWAN Eyecare is an independent, family-led business built around expertise, trust and a shared commitment to doing things properly.
Claire Hayden is the driving force behind HAYDENSWAN, bringing decades of experience in optics, business leadership, client care and brand development. Her vision was to create a different kind of eyecare experience: highly personal, clinically informed and delivered with the warmth and attention people expect from a family business.
HAYDENSWAN was built as a family from the very beginning. Claire, her sons Adam and Tamer, and her partner Robert Swan were all involved in the design, build and implementation of the first HAYDENSWAN practice. They gave their time to paint, decorate, build furniture and help transform an empty space into the welcoming boutique practice it is today.
Adam is a qualified pharmacist and is currently completing his Independent Prescribing qualification through a scholarship awarded by King’s College London. He has a keen interest in hormone health and HRT for both women and men and is helping HAYDENSWAN explore the growing connection between medication, hormonal changes, eye health and optical care.
Tamer is a qualified solicitor specialising in commercial contracts, business law and digital assets. He supports the legal and commercial aspects of HAYDENSWAN, helping to protect the business and provide a strong foundation for its continued growth.
Claire’s partner, Robert Swan, works quietly behind the scenes, supporting the business and its strategic direction alongside his work in corporate intelligence for private clients.
Together, the family brings experience across optics, pharmacy, law, business and strategy. More importantly, each of them has played a personal and practical role in building HAYDENSWAN. The practice is not simply a business bearing the family name; it is something they created together.
